Library Services During COVID-19 Response

CCSF Libraries are closed while the City is under a shelter-in-place order.

Check the CCSF Virtual Campus for online services and official College updates. The Library and Tutoring are in the Academic Services section. Also see the California Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for up-to-date statewide information and news.

Below is a list of selected online library and tutoring services that will be available during this period. Browse the library website for a full list.

Note: Please keep books and technology that you have checked out from the library until we reopen. Ignore any overdue notices. See CCSF Virtual Campus for details

Library support for faculty during the COVID-19 shift to online learning can be found at Surfacing Online Content: Library & OER.

Featured Library Reference & Instruction Services

  • 24 hour chat messaging with a reference librarian via the Library website
  • Access to library databases of articles, eBooks, streaming video via OneSearch (only need RAM ID to view in full)
  • Self-paced research skills workshops for learning how to use OneSearch, to find and evaluate reliable information online, to find scholarly information, and integrate and cite sources in your papers
  • See the Library website for all online services.
  • Faculty: Librarians can collaborate with you to share resources and teach research skills and information competency remotely, including creating or updating research guides, participating in Canvas, sharing slide presentations, and more. Contact the Library Liaison for your Department.

During the suspension, books and most other materials including laptops can be checked out for the duration of the closure and don't need to be returned until libraries re-open. Due dates for material borrowed from CCSF library are being extended until the library re-opens. Students do not need to do anything to make this happen. There will be no fines or late fees during this period. Please disregard any late notice emails should they occur. Requests for materials will be fulfilled once the library re-opens. If you have concerns or any problems related to this, simply come to the library once it is open again, or call 415-452-5433. See CCSF Virtual Campus for additional updates.

Online Tutoring

During the suspension of classes, all tutoring will be online.  CCSF offers FREE online tutoring through NetTutor. Currently enrolled students can access this service through any Canvas course. We encourage students to take full advantage of Net Tutor services.

NetTutor tutors are available for live sessions, to answer questions that you ‘drop-off’, and to review papers 24 hours a day, seven days of the week.  See the live tutoring schedule. All questions and writing samples that are submitted to NetTutor will be returned with your tutor’s comments within 48-72 hours, and can be found in your “Student Locker.”  For more information visit, NetTutor Online Tutoring.

In addition to NetTutor,  ENG, ESP and MATH is providing tutoring from individual Canvas classes.
