ENGL 1A - Smith

About Me

Hi y'all! I am Jason De Castro, and I am your embedded librarian for this course.

I have been a librarian for 6 years and have been at CCSF for 3 years. I also work at Skyline College and Cañada College.  I say this so you know I can assist with a variety of information needs.

My undergraduate degree in Accounting is from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles and I earned my Masters in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from UCLA. I am originally from Los Angeles, California.

I have experience working with students in many different classes. Librarians help students:

  • settle on research topics,
  • locate sources to read to better understand topics, as well as sources for papers,
  • evaluate sources, and
  • cite sources.

I’m working with your instructor Elizabeth Smith on how best to integrate into the course, but you can reliably find me in the library:

  • Mondays 9am-2pm
  • Wednesdays 1pm-5pm
  • Thursdays 8am--12pm

You can reach me at jdecastro@ccsf.edu to arrange a time to meet either in person or online (Zoom).

You can always come into the Library during open hours to get immediate help from a librarian.  You can also Chat with a librarian, since we staff the chat service all day long. Sometimes a Chat with a librarian can turn into a Zoom!

I look forward to working with you this semester!

Jason De Castro
