Copyright Resources: Home

Welcome to the City College of San Francisco (CCSF) Copyright Resources Guide.  This resource is intended to provide guidance and information to CCSF students, faculty, and employees working with copyright issues.  It will help you determine if the uses you’d like to make of copyrighted materials are allowed by law and will direct you to support at the College.

The goal of this guide is to help users understand how to legally use copyrighted materials in the academic environment. The intention is to be as open as possible.

Important: This guide does not provide legal advice.  The College's responsibility in supporting good copyright practice is to provide information and guidance for the CCSF community.  The person using or distributing copyrighted materials is responsible for copyright compliance. This guide supports these efforts.

Copyright at CCSF

The topic of copyright can at first seem overwhelming and complex.  It is intertwined with many activities in an academic environment and it is important for students, faculty, and staff to understand the basics and to know where to turn at the college for information and support.  This guide is designed to help you make good decisions and to ensure that you have as much flexibility as possible using, creating, and sharing information with others.

If you have questions after exploring this content, please don't hesitate to bring them to the library.  The faculty librarians at any CCSF library are happy to help you find answers and resources to support your copyright needs.  When in doubt, contact us!

CCSF Copyright Policy
