ENGL 1A / AS - Mills

About Me

Hi, all! I am Megan Kinney, and I am your embedded librarian for this course. My pronouns are she/her/hers.

I have been a librarian for about a decade, and have been full-time at CCSF for four years. Before that, I worked at another community college, a state university, and I work at the Oakland Public Library as well. I say this so you know I can assist with a variety of information needs.

My undergraduate degree in Literary Studies is from Eugene Lang College at the New School in NYC, and I earned my Masters in Library and Information Science online from San Jose State University. While I was born in CA, I was raised during my K-12 years in Texas.

As the English department liaison, I have lots of experience working with students in composition classes. Librarians help students:

  • settle on research topics,
  • locate sources to read to better understand topics, as well as sources for papers, and
  • cite sources.

I’m working with your teacher, Anna, on how best to integrate into the course, but you can reliably find me on the library chat:

  • Mondays 7:45a-9a, and
  • Thursdays 9a-10a.

If I’m not on chat, you can always chat with one of my fabulous library colleagues, since we all staff the chat service all day long. Any chat can turn into a Zoom! You can also email me to schedule a Zoom appointment.

I look forward to working with you this semester!

-Megan
