TED-Ed, the education arm, gathers some resources that offer valuable insights on topics in the news in relation to the COVID-19 outbreak in its Understanding the outbreak of a virus blog. They've put together videos to help answer questions such as what defines a pandemic? How can viruses be transmitted from animals to humans? And exactly what is a virus?
An active RAM ID (student ID) and RAM ID password is required for off-campus access to Films on Demand. When accessing these resources from off-campus, users will be prompted to log in with RAM ID before being able to view the resources.
Films on Demand is an online library of streaming videos, covering a wide range of topics. CCSF Library's subscription includes the general academic and nursing collections. There are approximately 15,000 films.
You can access Films on Demand from the library website's Articles and Databases page or search from within OneSearch.
In the search box, type your search term(s). For example, you might try covid-19, coronavirus, or pandemic.
Click on Menu, then "Browse Videos." Scan the page for Health & Medicine → Public Health → Epidemiology to see a selection of videos on pandemics.
Navigate to Films on Demand. Once logged in with RAM ID (if off-campus), students, faculty and staff have the option of creating a personal user account directly with Infobase (the company that owns Films on Demand).
What are the benefits of doing this?
To create an account, simply locate "Your Profile" in the upper right corner of the screen. Then, click "New user? Sign up."
