Mission Center Library Classroom Information

Rooms 407 and 408 Reservation Policy & Guidelines

Rooms 407 and 408 are primarily for the instructional needs of the Library & Learning Resources (LLR) Department. Non-library faculty and staff who schedule this instructional lab need to abide by the library’s room reservation policy below prior to using the room. Rooms 407 and 408 are located on the fourth floor of the Mission Center Library in the Valencia Building. For more information including hours and location, visit the Mission Center Library.

  • Reservation requests can be made using the library’s online reservation system and using your @ccsf.edu email address.
  • Reservations are available during the Mission Center Library's open hours.
  • CCSF faculty and staff may reserve the instruction lab up to two weeks in advance, with a maximum of two times per month.
  •  The instruction lab is not meant to take the place of an assigned classroom.
  •  When scheduling in the final time slot, your session must end 10 minutes before the library closes to ensure staff have enough time to close the library.
  • Food is not allowed; covered drinks are permitted.
  • The Library provides minimal technical support for non-library use of the instruction rooms. For larger issues with computers/equipment in the classroom, you will need to contact CCSF Information Technology Services or let us know the nature of the issue, and we will contact them on your behalf:
  • It is the responsibility of the person reserving the room to make sure to return all chairs to their original arrangement, turn out room lights, close and lock the door when finished with the room, and return the key to the Circulation Desk.
  • The person reserving the room is responsible for canceling the reservation if unable to use the room on the scheduled date/time, so that others may reserve the space.
  • The Library reserves the right to cancel a reservation in order to maximize use of the facilities and will notify the person responsible if cancellation is necessary.
  • Email librarian Mauro Garcia mgarcia@ccsf.edu for questions about reservations and the use of space.
  • All events held in Library facilities are subject to approval by the Library Dean.

Instructions for Using Rooms 407 and 408

Before Your Reservation

  • When arriving to use a classroom, please check in at the Library Circulation desk to sign out the key to obtain access to the classroom. The circulation desk is the counter on the right as soon as you enter the library on the 4th floor of the Valencia Building.
  • Instruction station for Room 408: login will be shared with you on the day of your reservation
  • Turn on the ceiling-mounted projector using the control panel located to the left of the computer station. The panel can also be used to adjust the volume control.
  • If you wish to use your own laptop, look for the HDMI cord located near the base of the Instructor's monitor. Plug into your computer, then push the button labeled HDMI on the control panel.
  • To use the document camera, place the document underneath the camera, turn on the camera and push the button labeled Document Camera. NOTE: It can take a few seconds to auto-focus. Also, there is a light you can turn off and on.
  • If you wish to use the DVD player in Room 408, insert the DVD or Blu-ray into the player. Push the button labeled DVD on the control panel. Note the DVD player and remote control located in the right cabinet of the Instructor's station.
  • Adjust the blinds or turn off the lights to improve the visibility of the projection.
  • Turn on the fan to improve the air flow, as the room temperature can be warm.
  • Printing is not available directly from the classroom; for printing needs, please contact the Circulation Desk.

At the End of your Reservation

  • Upon completion of the session, the classroom must be returned to its original condition: instructor station turned off, projector turned off, computers logged off, and any rearranged chairs put back.

  • Turn off the projector using the control panel.
  • Remember to leave all remotes in the instructor station.
  • Ask students to turn off their monitors.  The Library Automation Department will shut down the computers from a central location, but the monitors need to be turned off manually.
  • Turn out the room lights, close and lock the room.
  • Return the key to the Circulation Desk.
