Employment

The CCSF Library has dynamic staff and faculty who work collaboratively to provide excellent service and instruction to the CCSF community.

Types of positions:

  • Classified positions - classified positions are hired through the City of San Francisco Civil Service office. To qualify to apply for a classified position, take the appropriate civil service exam. We pull candidates directly from civil service hiring lists.
  • Faculty positions - librarians at CCSF are faculty positions. When approved, the college will typically post faculty positions in January and February for the following academic year.
  • Part-time faculty librarians - CCSF employs a team of part-time faculty librarians. Contact the faculty department chair to find out about the next hiring process.
  • Administrative positions - the Dean of Libraries is the only library administrator, and the position is posted on the College Jobs site when available.

When hiring, we advertise widely. Our team is highly diverse and we value diversity and inclusion in all that we do.

Have you ever thought about working in a library but don't know where to begin?  CCSF offers a program in Library Information Technology which provides information about various types of library careers, and trains tomorrow's library technicians.
